The Department of Anesthesiology, at Virginia Commonwealth University, is recruiting additional anesthesiologists to provide care to patients at VCU Health as assigned by the Department Chair or Chair’s delegate. This includes preanesthetic evaluation, intraoperative anesthetic care, postoperative rounds, resuscitation and intensive care, therapeutic/diagnostic nerve blocks, and consultation in cases of chronic pain. Directs the activities of nurse anesthetists as assigned by Chair or Chair’s delegate.
The Department provides nearly 30,000 anesthetics per year and provides critical care services in 4 critical care units. We care for more than 2,000 patients annually. We are a Level 1 Trauma Center and one of the longest established solid organ transplantation programs in the world. Candidates must have good communication, clinical and host teaching skills. Candidates must hold an MD or DO degree, must be ABA Board eligible/certified in Anesthesiology and/or certified/eligible for Critical Care Certification, eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in Virginia, and eligible for employment in the United States. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
