This is an opportunity for a chief CRNA to have a significant impact by supporting and facilitating a team that will deliver superior clinical care at the hospital. As champions of evidence-based anesthesia and population health, Somnia Anesthesia is helping hospitals and surgery centers make the shift to the value-based care environment.

General Duties:
• Assist in development, review, assessment, edit and implementation of anesthesia policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Assist with the development of standard operating procedures for all aspects of CRNA care at Memorial Medical Center (“MMC”).
• Develop monthly schedule for CRNAs in consultation with Somnia, Inc. personnel.
• Responsible for the planning and dissemination of educational information to the CRNA team through Somnia University and other educational outreach programs.
• Participate in any and all committees or boards that may directly or indirectly impact clinical care and as coordinated with the Chief of Anesthesia. Such committees may include, but not limited to, the OR Committee, Surgery Committee, Procedural Safety Committee and Quality Improvement Committee
• Represent the MMC at community, political and social events or other marketing activities as appropriate.
• Assist with, and serve as a resource for, MMC when dealing with healthcare and state regulators.
• Provide input and advice regarding anesthesia equipment, supply or other logistical issues.
• Participate in the recruitment and selection of new CRNAs.

Facilitation Duties:
• Implement and supervise preoperative testing and preparation for surgery guidelines.
• Manage and lead staff CRNA assigned to specific operating rooms.
• Support and assist the general nursing department in achieving their clinical and administrative goals.
• Coordinates OR activity along with the OR Nurse Manager to create an efficient patient flow.
• Manage room turnover and preparation towards high quality anesthesia services.
• Acts as the interface between anesthesia department and OR nurses; Administration; Surgeons; Patients & families.
• Conducts special projects or studies as requested by the Chief of Anesthesiology or Somnia, Inc.

Anesthesia Specific Duties:
• Help develop and maintain an Anesthesia Policy and Procedure Manual.
• Creating a “systems” approach for the clinical care environment:
• Pre-op anesthesia patient information acquisition and evaluation;
• Postoperative care;
• Anesthesia discharge standards and instructions;
• Managing incidents or complications;
• Communications between the on-call anesthesiologist and CRNAs.
• Manage internal CRNA related problems in the anesthesia department.
• Provide direct anesthesia services to MMC patients.
• Create an anesthesia schedule for coverage and late call.
• Coordinate Anesthesia Staff Meetings.
• Supervise Anesthesia Quality Assurance (including QA studies).
• Provide input on the maintenance of anesthesia carts:
o Difficult airway;
o Malignant Hyperthermia;
o Regional Anesthesia;
o Code;
o Pediatric.
• Maintains reasonable skills and proficiency in the specialty areas of obstetric anesthesia, regional anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia and cardiac anesthesia.

• Compensation: $301,600 up to $370,000 PLUS with optional call and extra shifts
• $20k chief stipend

The chief CRNA supports daily staffing assignments, management of the schedule for all anesthetizing locations. This key role is responsible for the development and implementation of the Anesthesia Department policies and procedures, serves on committees as a representative of the anesthesia department.
